In the bustling heart of Bengaluru, on Residency Road, stands Cubit Collective—a design house where contemporary elegance meets soulful living. Led by sibling duo Vrinda K Murthy and Vivek Yerkadithaya, this young yet seasoned brand is the culmination of over two decades of combined experience in the interior design landscape. Their journey is not one of overnight success, but of deep passion, layered learning, and a commitment to creating spaces that breathe harmony, beauty, and meaning.
Vrinda’s story began over a decade ago, when she decided to leave a thriving tech career to follow her true calling—design. Having graduated from R.V. College in 2013, she joined her mother, Supriya, in running an established interior design practice. While the creative foundation was strong, Vrinda’s vision was clear from the start: to bring in modern, scalable, and technically sound design solutions, using the latest materials and techniques to deliver best-in-class interiors. Her work soon evolved from simple residential projects to highly complex, large-scale interiors—projects that required precision, innovation, and an unyielding commitment to detail.
Five years ago, Vivek entered the picture, bringing with him the sharp operational acumen of an MBA graduate from the prestigious Indian School of Business. While Vrinda continued to shape the design direction, Vivek took charge of streamlining delivery, project management, and scaling the business. Together, they formed a complementary leadership—one driven by creative vision, the other by strategic execution. In April 2023, this synergy took formal shape under the name Cubit Collective.
The firm’s design language is rooted in Contemporary Modern Interiors with a distinctive biophilic touch—integrating natural elements wherever possible to create serene, harmonious spaces. For Vrinda and Vivek, design is not just about visual appeal; it’s about understanding how people live, work, and feel in their environments. “Peaceful and harmonious living” is not just a tagline for them—it’s a promise.
What truly sets Cubit Collective apart is their ability to bridge the gap between stunning design concepts and flawless execution. In an industry often plagued by impractical yet beautiful ideas, they pride themselves on their deep technical understanding and manufacturing expertise, ensuring every concept is not only aesthetic but also achievable and enduring. Their USP lies in long, iterative design processes that integrate seamlessly with a client’s lifestyle, an extraordinary depth of material and technology knowledge, and a rare engineering-backed focus on build quality. With over 25 years of cumulative industry experience, the team has navigated every scale—from modest budgets to ultra-luxury transformations.
Their work is deeply personal. Every project is treated as a partnership with the client, with relationships nurtured long after completion. One project especially dear to their hearts was the creation of a home for a couple in their 80s and 90s who decided to move into a new residence. From the moment they met the clients, the experience was filled with lessons—not just about design, but about resilience, companionship, and the joys of starting fresh at any age.
For Vrinda and Vivek, design is also about responsibility. They believe sustainable and green architecture is not a passing trend but an ethical imperative—something both designers and clients must embrace. Their focus now is on making bespoke high-end interiors accessible to the upper middle class, without compromising on quality or individuality.
The road to this point hasn’t been without its challenges. At one stage, the studio’s creativity plateaued, with repetitive palettes and “safe” solutions dulling the team’s spark. Instead of ignoring it, they confronted it head-on—introducing internal design challenges, bringing in guest speakers, attending exhibitions, and setting up an ever-changing “Inspiration Wall” to fuel new ideas. Their workspace was reimagined to foster collaboration and experimentation, reigniting not just creativity but the culture itself.
Vrinda draws professional inspiration from entrepreneur Sarah Sham, whose ability to scale a design business with humility resonates deeply with her own values. Her message to budding architects and designers is simple yet powerful: “Stay curious, stay grounded, never stop learning—and above all, design with integrity.”
With their unique blend of artistry, engineering precision, and heartfelt client relationships, Cubit Collective isn’t just designing interiors—they’re shaping environments that tell stories, spark joy, and stand the test of time.
