“I start with a rough draft, and then I revise it,” Shamim shares. “I want my poems to be meaningful, relevant, and free from grammatical errors. It’s all about getting the emotions right.”

His admiration for individuals who have left a significant mark on society, like APJ Abdul Kalam, Mahatma Gandhi, and Amitabh Bachchan, shines through in many of his works. He has also written poems on historical events like Independence Day and Republic Day, and societal issues such as child rights and women’s empowerment.
When asked about his inspiration, Shamim explains, “I write about what moves me—whether it’s a national event, a personal story, or a reflection on something that I have experienced. My poems are my way of engaging with the world around me.”

Through his YouTube channel and platforms like StoryMirror, he engages with his audience, sharing his poems and connecting with them on a personal level. “Positive feedback from readers motivates me to write more and better poems,” he says.
The most memorable feedback he’s received came from his poem on Women’s Day, which was recognized with an award. “That was a special moment for me. Knowing that my words could inspire or uplift someone is the greatest reward.”

Shamim’s journey as a poet is just beginning. While he is still exploring the many facets of poetry, he has big dreams for the future. One of his greatest aspirations is to collaborate with some of the literary giants he admires, like Javed Akhtar and Gulzar. His plans for the future include delving into deeper social and cultural issues and exploring more English poetry.
“I hope my work leaves a long-lasting impact,” he says. “If my writings inspire people to be more positive and motivated, to serve society and uplift others, I will consider my mission accomplished.”
